Sheffield snooker: Amey resurfacing ‘farm track’ to players' hotel two days after start of World Championships

Contractors are racing to resurface a road to a Sheffield hotel popular with snooker players two days after the start of the World Championships.

Amey workers were laying and rolling asphalt on Kenwood Road, Nether Edge, at 5.35pm on Tuesday, April 22 after starting with the pavements in February.

He alleged Kenwood Road had been “overlooked” for resurfacing since a protest over removing a street tree nine years ago.

Sheffield City Council said Kenwood Road was in phase three of six highway consultations stemming from the street tree dispute.

Amey is the authority’s private sector roads contractor.
