Stephen Riley, aged 43, was found with a stab wound to his chest in Darley Avenue, Athersley, at around 11pm on Friday, June 26.

He was taken to hospital but could not be saved and died in the early hours of the following day.

A 37-year-old man arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder remains in police custody today.

A 41-year-old woman, who who was also arrested yesterday, is also still being held today on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detectives investigating the stabbing want to hear from anyone in Athersley on Friday night who saw or heard anything suspicious.
