Sheffield United hat-trick hero Sydie Peck gets another England call up
Sydie Peck has made 10 appearances for the under-21s so far
Sheffield United’s midweek hat-trick hero Sydie Peck has received another call-up to represent England Under-21s for their upcoming international friendlies.
Peck will be attending St George’s Park once again, except this time he may be leaving the taxi with a spring in his step after the 22-year-old scored his first career hat-trick under the lights at Deepdale in United’s 3-2 win against Preston North End on Tuesday night.
Peck is expected to retain his starting position this weekend as the Blades travel down to The Valley to face struggling side Charlton Athletic, where pressure is mounting on Addicks boss Nathan Jones, who has only won once this season, against Preston back in August.
The midfielder was called up to Lee Carsley’s side for the first time in September 2025 and made his debut against Kazakhstan, coming on as a substitute in a 2-0 victory.
He made his 10th appearance for the under-21s last time out against the Republic of Ireland in a 3-1 defeat, when he was replaced by Middlesbrough striker and Championship top goal-scorer Will Lankshear in the 68th minute.
Despite the defeat, the Young Lions qualified for the UEFA European U21 Championship that will take place next year, which is being hosted in a joint effort by Serbia and Albania.
England are the reigning champions of the Under-21 Euros, having beaten Germany 3-2 after extra time in the 2025 final.
These upcoming games are only friendlies, though, but will prove to be vital preparation as England will be facing some of the toughest youth sides in Europe.
They face Portugal on Friday, November 13, at 7:30 pm, and France only three days later on Monday 16th, which kicks off at the same time as the match against Portugal.
Both fixtures will be played at the home of Bristol City, Ashton Gate. If Unitedites wish to see their hat-trick hero in action, they can watch for free on the official England app.
With Jobe Bellingham being promoted to the senior setup by Thomas Tuchel, it could see an opportunity for the Blade to get more minutes in an England shirt.
