Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Sheffield city centre

A 41-year-old man was found stabbed in Broom Walk, Broomhall – close to Devonshire Green – at around 6.40pm.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance and a police probe into the incident was launched.

A passer-by said a crime scene cordon was put in place and there were a number of police vans and cars in the city suburb as enquiries were carried out.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to Broom Walk at 6.40pm last night after the ambulance service alerted us to an assault, during which a man had reportedly been stabbed.

“The 41-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“An investigation is now under way and officers are reviewing nearby CCTV footage as they work to identify those involved.”

No arrests have yet been made.
