“Whilst visiting Dixon Road, the offender spotted officers, panicked and then tried to escape by heading to the rear of the property then out of a back window.

“The team were one step ahead of him, with PCSO Tony Hizam waiting on the path at the back of the property. He did a quick u-turn and encountered me at the front door instead.”

Searches of the property saw officers recover cannabis plants worth £70,000.

Domi was arrested for production of cannabis and was subsequently charged and remanded to court, where he was found guilty on January 27

He was sentenced this week and is to be deported upon his release from prison.

PC Sarah Forsythe said: “ This is another great result for our team in our fight against cannabis cultivation and organised crime. This case shows there is no escaping the Walkley team, no matter how hard you try. We appreciate the amazing support we receive from our communities.”

PC Laura Thompson added: “We ask residents to report suspicions. Be alert to properties that may have curtains closed and condensation on windows during the daytime.

“You may see people attend at regular times but possibly just once a week. You may notice the smell or hear the whirring of fans at quieter times. This sort of detail really helps the team develop a picture of what is going on at an address. We thank you for your support. It’s been fantastic.”
