Heavy police presence in Page Hall after reports of violence
Police have been deployed to a troubled Sheffield suburb following reports of violence on Thursday afternoon.
South Yorkshire Police said officers have responded to an incident where a group of people reportedly was fighting in the road, between Owler Lane and Rushby Street in Page Hall.
A spokesperson said: “Officers remain at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 585 of 4 March.”
The suburb of Page Hall is known to be plagued by issues including fly-tipping, rats, prostitution, grooming, drugs, anti-social behaviour and groups of people congregating in the streets at all time of the day and night.
A police team was also set up to tackle issues in the Sheffield suburb such as fly-tipping, fighting, noise and large groups.
An empty house on Robey Street was turned into a police base in a bid to deter trouble and to have staff on hand to respond to incidents and to get to know the community better.
