Speedway: Sheffield guest disappointed by 'worst showing at track in a decade'

Sheffield missing their regular number one Jack Holder through injury

Sheffield guest Nicolai Klindt has told of his disappointment over his score for Tigers against Ipswich on Thursday night.

The Dane guested for Tigers as number one, standing in for the injured number one Jack Holder, but said his score in the 52-38 defeat for Sheffield at Foxhall was probably his worst at that track in 10 years.

He scored two and a bonus point over his four rides.

He said today on his social media posts: “That was probably my worst score at Foxhall in a decade if I remember correctly.

“I always enjoy going there and do well, but last night wasn’t up to my normal standards.

“My starts wasn’t good enough and I made mistakes on the track, which cost me points

“ Very disappointing and it had an obvious impact on the result. But as I always say and go by - one meeting doesn’t define you, or who you are!

“Thank you to the Sheffield management for giving me this opportunity to race for them.”

Meanwhile, Tigers skipper Joh Pickering, Sheffield’s top scorer on the night, spoke of his disappointment at falling in heat 15, when he had been in a position what would have won Sheffield the aggregate point.

He said: “I know we could’ve been in better positions going into Heat 15 and things like that but I knew what was on the line, I was in second - and safely in second.

“If I stayed up, it would’ve been enough and we’d have been okay and it wouldn’t have been a Super Heat.

“But, unfortunately, when you’re racing it’s hard to switch off sometimes and if I’d have known it was so ‘marbley’ how it was, there’s no way in the world I would’ve followed Tom in on the outside - and that’s rider error.

“I know we could’ve been in a much better position from other riders to get us that point - but we weren’t. We were then in that point in Heat 15 and I stuffed it.”
