Sheffield Wednesday forward's message ahead of Wycombe Wanderers clash after Bromley battering
SWFC have another game coming up on Tuesday night...
Mason Burstow wants Sheffield Wednesday to maintain their ‘momentum’ when they take on Wycombe Wanderers.
The Owls visit Adams Park on Tuesday night and confidence levels are high after thrashing Bromley 7-2 in front of 30,000 at Hillsborough on Saturday. Burstow scored his first goal for the club since joining on a season loan from Hull City in the victory and collected an assist.
Wycombe, managed by former Barnsley boss Michael Duff, suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Stockport County at the weekend and are yet to taste to victory in the league.
“Hopefully we keep the momentum going,” Burstow said ahead of the fixture. “Hopefully we can get at them.”
Burstow doubled Wednesday’s lead against Bromley with a cool finish from the edge of the box and then set-up Louie Barry for a goal in the second-half.
“It was fun to play in,” he said. “We needed a reaction from Bradford and from Wolves. To go put a team to the sword like that was a positive. We knew how important a reaction was at home because we couldn’t let another home game slide. We had an opportunity today to put them to the sword, and we've done that straight from the off, that's the aim every game.
“If I'm starting or coming on, I always want to make an impact. To get off the mark today is a good feeling. When Jamal (Lowe) picked up the ball, I made my run and gave him one option and the finish came off how I wanted it to. To be able to celebrate in front of the fans was a lovely feeling. I think everyone was on top form today.”
Had Wednesday been even more clinical they could have hit double-figures but they could still be satisfied with their work apart from the two late concessions which left an ‘angry’ feeling in the dressing room, according to boss Henrik Pedersen.
Burstow added: “To score seven is an amazing feeling. But to concede two at the end, we need to stay strong, stay focused, and we had more chances as well. It could have been 10, so we need to keep pushing.”
