The iGulu F2 Smart Home Brewer is your answer to home brewing.
Is there anything better than a cold beer on a warm day? What if I told you that you could have a pub quality beer made by you in your own home? Sounds too good to be true right?
This was my first thought when I tried the iGulu F1 home brewer. I thought I had found the perfect piece of tech for my kitchen. Then the F2 arrived.
The F2 is designed to be more than a home beer brewer. It's a platform for exploring what you can make and enjoy at home, from your first brew to your own signature drinks, and enjoying the experience of sharing something you’ve made
Using their ingredient kits and built-in temperature/pressure controls, the iGulu allows you to mix, brew, and pour fresh craft beer in about 8 to 12 days with practically zero cleanup or prior brewing knowledge.

Users can begin with curated iGULU Brew Kits — each including premium ingredients and an RFID recipe card — or switch to Creator Mode to customise flavours, adjust fermentation conditions and build original recipes.
Set up of the F2 couldn’t be easier, as with the F1 once you’ve got everything out of the box you download the iGulu app and follow the instructions. I don’t think they could have made it any easier!
At first glance the main differences between the F1 and F2 are the expandable batch sizes, a larger screen, counter pressure bottling, advanced fermentation and even an AI assistance.
The F2 larger display may seem like a small upgrade but I found it really useful. It is much easier to see fermentation status and when adjusting settings I think it also just makes the machine look even sleeker.
The F2 has an AI assistant called Gulu, and you can actually speak to it. During brewing I asked the machine its status, changed the screen brightness and it even suggested some recipes for me.
I’ve yet to ask it to deal with brewing tasks, as I only tested it when using one of iGulu’s brewing kits but having a handy little computer helping you through each step has got to be a fantastic addition to the newer F2.

Having these two things together have really improved the over all experience using the F2 compared to the F1. Having the AI assistant answer questions or to let me know what stage I’m at is super helpful.
One of the most interesting upgrades with the F2 is the ability to increase the batch size. The F2 comes with a 5L fermentation keg as standard and can be expanded to a 10L keg with an expansion kit.
I wasn’t testing the collar for my review but for the seasoned brewer this would be a huge improvement. For those who are confident in their brewing, being able to create larger batches will make the F2 even more attractive.
The biggest visible hardware change is probably the dispensing area. The F1 had a more traditional-looking spout. The F2 replaces that with a new bottling head, which can still dispense beer but also allows counter-pressure filling into the supplied 850ml container.
Counter-pressure filling allows you to move carbonated beer into another container while helping to reduce oxygen exposure and retain carbonation.
With a 4-litre batch I am happy to leave the beer brewing and cooling inside the machine, but once you move up to the bigger batches, this is a great way to take beer with you, or pop remaining beer in the fridge whilst you whip up another batch.

My first batch, iGulu's Goslar Sea Salt Gose, was ready in just over a week, and the outcome was so impressive. The beer was tasty, cold, fruity and with a kick of salt and just like having it poured from the pub. It was absolutely delicious
My pros of the F1 still stand when it comes to the F2. The simplicity, the brewing day itself only takes about two minutes, you just pour in filtered water and the packeted ingredients into the keg, scan the RFID code, and let the machine handle the rest.
High-Quality Taste. The pour is smooth, and fresh, I was blown away when I poured my first pint and it’s the same with the F2.
The choice: You have lots of options with the recipe kits available but you can also use the machine to cool and dispense store bought 5L mini kegs.
Low Maintenance: The system uses tool-free, easy-to-clean components, and it keeps your homebrew fresh and crisp for up to 30 days.
I didn’t have many cons when it came to the F1 but they have both been solved with the F2. The small batch size has now been addressed with the expansion kit.
I also questioned the price the first time round. But after using the F1 and now the F2 I think you absolutely get value for money. When talking to friends about what you can actually do from this very impressive machine the price would stack up if you tried to do anything close to it.

So, Is the iGulu F2 Better Than the F1?
In my opinion absolutely. The expandable batch size, larger screen, counter-pressure bottling, and AI assistant, and the F2 has grown on what is already a fantastic machine.
It is always a conversation starter when my friends come round and they can help themselves to a drink that is the same quality as if we were at a local bar or pub. I know my friend has already asked her partner for one for Christmas!
The iGulu F2 Kickstarter campaign is now live, with offers of up to 41% off. Backers can explore the available packages, exclusive rewards, and estimated delivery dates directly on the Kickstarter campaign page.
