Man seriously injured in stabbing in Sheffield

A man is in hospital after being seriously injured in a stabbing in Sheffield.

The 36-year-old was found with stab wounds in Firshill Crescent, Shirecliffe, at around 9pm yesterday.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains today in a stable condition.

No arrests have yet been made over the incident.

A police cordon is in place this morning and residents have been warned to expect to see an increased number of officers on the streets.

The cordon is under police guard and blood stains can be seen on a pavement at the crime scene.

Shocked residents said they woke this morning to see a heavy police presence on their street but were unaware of the violence that had flared close to their homes.

South Yorkshire Police said: “An investigation has been launched after a stabbing on Firshill Crescent in Sheffield last night.

“Officers were deployed to the location at around 9pm where they discovered a man with serious injuries.

“The 36 year old was taken to hospital for treatment for two stab wounds. He remains in a stable condition.

“Enquiries are continuing this morning. No arrests have yet been made.”

The force added: “There is a police cordon and a road closure in place on Firshill Crescent this morning and you might see more officers than usual.

“Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area last night, or has any information about the incident, to contact police.”

Anyone with information on the stabbing should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 986 of July 15.
