The Old Horns: Come for the views, stay for the food and the atmosphere
Whenever we post on our social media asking our readers where the best beer garden in Sheffield is, the Old Horns is always on that list. Kim went to find out why.
Driving just five minutes out of Hillsborough you’ll reach The Old Horns Inn.
Located in Towngate, High Bradfield and perched on a hill over the picturesque village of Low Bradfield, it offers a stunning view of rolling hills of the Peaks and Damflask Reservoir in the Loxley Valley beyond.

We are lucky enough to have some fantastic beer gardens across our city but when it comes to favourites The Old Horns always comes out on top. The family, dog and walker-friendly spot is firmly established as one of the best pubs in England and has won a number of Thwaites Awards including ‘Pub of the Year’ and ‘Best Food.’
Landlord John Wyke said: “We are lucky enough to be in the most gorgeous location. We are a family business and we pride ourselves on welcoming everyone to our pub.
“We are not just blessed with the fantastic views but we offer a great selection of drinks and home cooked food.
“We really try to cater for everyone.

“People come for the views but keep coming back because of the atmosphere. We strongly believe in a warm welcome, a cold drink and hot food.
“We’ve been here 18 years and people travel from as far as Nottingham to visit us so we must be doing something right.”
For those that haven’t visited in a while, in the summer of 2024, it underwent a massive refurbishment to freshen up the aspects people keep visiting returning and with the English summer looking to continue now is the perfect time to pay it a visit.
You won’t regret it with those views!
