A taste of first class as new cafe opens in old train station lounge
The launch marks the transformation of a long-standing heritage space
Cawa has opened a new coffee destination within the historic former first class lounge at Sheffield train station
The launch marks the transformation of a long-standing heritage space on platform five into a vibrant new venue for commuters.
The project represents more investments into Sheffield station and the city centre, bringing a previously underutilised space back into public use while creating local employment opportunities and supporting regional suppliers.

The opening marks the third station cafe for Cawa who also have establishments in the city centre, Broomhall, Chesterfield station and Nottingham station.
The official launch on June 30 was hosted at the new cafe with civic leaders, business representatives, transport partners and community stakeholders from across South Yorkshire all in attendance.
Deon Jacobs from Cawa said: “The former first class lounge has served generations of traveller passing through Sheffield station. Rather than allowing history to fade we saw this as an opportunity to breathe new life into the old building.
“For many people it’s the very first impression of our city, therefore this space should reflect the energy, the ambition and warmth that Sheffield as a city is known for.”
