Green light for Sheffield station listed building cafe plan

Change lined up for facility on the platform

One of the platform cafes at Sheffield Station is set for a rebranding and a refurbishment.

Sheffield Council has approved a rebranding of the existing Coffee Room site, on platform 6a and 8a, into a Cafe Local.

The alternations had to be approved by Sheffield Council for planning permission because the railway station is a Grade II listed building.

Sheffield Council said in a report which recommended approving the scheme: “The proposal will sustain the special interest of the listed building with all external works consistent with that which currently exists.”

A report as part of the application says it would provide an attractive, comfortable, and safe environment for travellers and staff.
