Plans for a food hall on a trendy Sheffield street have suffered a set back after the operator pulled out.

Revolution Bars has ended its involvement in the proposed venue on Ecclesall Road, after more than a year, according to commercial agent Matthew Barnsdale.

The former Sunday School has planning permission and is available for purchase or rent, he added.

Mr Barnsdale, who represents the owner, said it was an internal decision by the firm and was not a reflection on the site, Ecclesall Road, or Sheffield.

He added: “It’s where they are as a business, they are not doing any new sites apparently.

“They were keen, they paid for the planning process. The building has been cleaned and it’s ready for someone to come along and do something with it.

“It’s a shame, we gave them a lot of space and a lot of time. They committed financially, which is why were were prepared to worth them. They have been very good to deal with.

“Now, we are all ears.”

Councillors approved the food hall scheme in 2023 after the applicant cut the closing time to 11.30pm and reduced the size of a roof terrace.

As well as noise, the original plans sparked concerns over parking and a “surplus” of food and drink businesses in the area.
