Around four of them could be seen in the car park of the Three Merry Lads pub, next to Redmires Road, in Lodge Moor on Wednesday, August 26.

Locals confirmed that they had been told filming was for the well known comedy thriller.

The crew is also using a second car park nearby, the Hallam Rangers car park on the other side of the road.

The producers have labelled them as their unit base, and their tech base.

It is understood that although the crews are using the car parks as a base, filming is being carrying out a few minutes’ drive away from the car parks.

Black Ops is comedy about police officers Dom and Kay, who join the police hoping to clean up their community but find themselves having to take part in a murky under-cover operation.

The cast has included big names including Doctor Who actress Jo Martin, and the film actress Cathy Tyson.

It also stars Gbemisola Ikumelo, Hammed Animashaun, Akemnji Ndifornyen, Robbie Gee, Jo Martin, Colin Hoult, and Ed Speleers. Nigel Havers has also appeared in the show.

The Star has approached the producers for more information on their work in Sheffield.

It is the latest show to be filmed in the city by the BBC.

Other projects have included the thriller Reunion, which had a largely deaf cast, which was filmed at many locations across Sheffield in 2024.

Another high profile show shot in the city was Doctor Who, which used several locations around the city late in 2017 and early in 2018, when Jody Whitaker was starring.

Other high profile television productions have included the Disney+ update of The Full Monty, which was filmed here in 2022, again using several locations across Sheffield.
