Friends and family to gather at Rotherham café to honour life of crash victim Sophie Murphy
“That's where she touched so many people”
The family and friends of a young woman killed in a crash are gathering at the cafe where she worked to remember her.
Sophie Murphy died after the black Volkswagen Passat she was travelling in veered out of control on Penny Hill Lane at 1.29am on Sunday and struck a telegraph pole.
Police were called to the scene and Sophie was pronounced dead.

Three others were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released on bail.
Sophie’s family will be holding a gathering at Murphy’s cafe at Sycamore Centre, Eastwood, on Friday, October 30 from 7pm to commemorate her life.
Her parents, Alan and Karen Parker, explained that they wanted to hold the gathering there because that's where she touched the lives of so many people.
They said: “Most people know her from working there.

“She was the life and soul of the cafe. She was so nice, she made everyone laugh.”
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the vehicle before the collision or the crash itself.
Mr and Mrs Parker hope that the gathering for Sophie will encourage people with information to come forward or go to the police.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident number 100 of October 25, 2026.
