“We asked Sheffield to help us find an unsung hero, and Isabella and Heidi’s story really stood out”
Young Sheffield fundraisers Isabella and Heidi will join local legend John Burkhill to launch fireworks at a major Bonfire Night event this week.
Isabella and Heidi, aged six and eight respectively, were chosen for the honour after giving their pocket money to support S12 Community Pantry, as well as donating toys and buying practical items for people who need them.

Organisers for the event wanted to spotlight the work of unsung heroes, and the two selfless youngsters will get to join fundraising legend John Burkhill in launching a night of family fun at the new Arcnight Bonfire Night event at Don Valley Bowl.
When nominating them, their mum said: “Both have donated pocket money throughout the year to buy food for the community pantry and over the last 12 months donated toys, bought new toys and other items for the same community food bank.”
The event is set to kick-off at 4pm on Thursday, November 5, and will feature a firework show, live music, fairground rides and a number of local food traders.
The programme also includes a low bangs display for younger children and people who prefer a quieter experience, and a laser show.
Arcnight is produced by Events Collective, the Sheffield team behind Illuminate The Gardens at Sheffield Botanical Gardens from 2017 to 2025.

Bob Worm, managing director of Events Collective, said: “We asked Sheffield to help us find an unsung hero, and Isabella and Heidi’s story really stood out. Giving their own pocket money to help other people is something worth celebrating.
“So many people also nominated John Burkhill. Bringing them together felt like a lovely way to recognise the difference people can make to their city.
“Arcnight is about bringing Sheffield together, and we couldn’t think of better people to help us start the fireworks.”
