The Owls will be eager to build on their 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers last weekend, and it’s unlikely that Darren Moore will be making too many changes after such a professional display at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wednesday go up against a Forest Green side that have won one out of four games in League One so far since their promotion at the end of last season, but it has to be noted that their one victory – against Bristol Rovers – came away from home.

Moore’s side could potentially climb up to second place (technically first, but that’d require a huge goal swing) with a win this afternoon, and there will be plenty of Wednesdayites cheering them on from the stands as they look to extend their unbeaten run.

Sheffield Wednesday v Forest Green Rovers - All the updates from Hillsborough

Key Events

  • It is the first ever meeting between the two sides
  • Wednesday’s unbeaten run at home stretches back to February
  • Mallik Wilks could make his debut

A bit of team news...

Mallik Wilks is available to make his debut on Saturday.

The forward officially joined Wednesday this week and is eligible for his first runout this weekend.

Michael Smith could also be involved having trained all week.

Ben Heneghan (hamstring) is sidelined and a decision will be made tomorrow on Fisayo Dele-Bashiru who picked up a knock in the midweek cup win over Rochdale.

Forest Green:

Our visitors could hand Myles Peart-Harris his debut after the attacking midfielder signed on loan from Brentford until January.

Ex-Owl Connor Wickham could feature at Hillsborough.

The striker has made two appearances from the bench in League One this season and scored away at Lincoln earlier this month to earn a point for Rovers in a 1-1 draw.

A couple of pre-game reads for you...

For the first time ever, Sheffield Wednesday take on Forest Green Rovers this afternoon...

Wednesday could potentially go as high as second place in League One if they get a result and things go their way elsewhere, and it’s a big chance for Darren Moore’s side to show what they can do.

The Owls have had a tough start to the campaign in terms of their fixtures, but today is one that - on paper - they’re *meant* to win. We know how slippy some of these banana skins can be though, so it’s all eyes on Hillsborough to see if they can get the job done!
