Wednesday have had a raft of loan players head back to their parent clubs and decisions have been made on the Owls released list, with Saido Berahino, Sam Hutchinson and Chey Dunkley having been moved on.
Decisions will be made by the quartet of players offered deals by the club; namely Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Jack Hunt, Massimo Luongo and Joe Wildsmith.
But with more or less every club in the EFL having now published their ‘released and retained’ lists after Saturday’s deadline – and just for fun – we scoured the free agent market to scope out a few we think the club could fit the bill.
Last week we put together this list of players already available to be signed for free, including Freddie Ladapo.
And a little earlier we put together this list, which included Harlee Dean and 12 others.
Here are a few more names Wednesday could consider to bring in for nothing.

5. Aapo Halme - Barnsley
A player of good experience considering he is only 25, giant Finnish former Leeds United centre-half Aapo Halme was released by Barnsley this week as they prepare for life alongside Wednesday League One. 6. Ben Hamer - Swansea City
A very experienced goalkeeper who won League One with Charlton in 2011/12, former Huddersfield number one Hamer is a free agent after his departure from Swansea was confirmed. 7. Elliot Lee - Luton Town
Son of former England international and Newcastle midfielder Rob, Lee spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic and so knows the third tier well. Had a decent goalscoring season in 2018/19 as Luton were promoted to the Championship but the 27-year-old forward's career has stalled a touch since then. Photo: James Chance

A former Chelsea youngster, Masampu signed for Birmingham last summer having spent time on trial with Wednesday and their League One rivals Portsmouth. He's a left-back and is still only 22. Photo: Getty Images
