Transfer race heats up as Sheffield Wednesday striker attracts serious Championship interest

Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the January window closing.

Sheffield Wednesday striker, Bailey Cadamarteri, is hot property – with nine clubs now known to be interested in trying to sign him.

It was previously reported this month that Hibernian had made a low offer for the 20-year-old striker, an offer that was subsequently turned down, but they aren’t the only ones believed to be interested.

The Star understands that Swansea City, Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City, Charlton Athletic, Luton Town, Wycombe Wanderers and Mansfield Town all have the Jamaica international on their radar, while Millwall are thought to be actively pursuing a deal.

This publication understands that a bid of between £750,000 to £1,000,000 could be considered by those currently in charge of the Owls’ finances, though it remains to be seen whether the Lions – or anyone else for that matter – will be willing to meet that valuation.

Cadamarteri interest continues to mount

Cadamarteri has been a regular for Wednesday this season, leading the line in difficult circumstances, and has been praised for his work ethic and determination. His exit would give the Owls even fewer options up top.

Henrik Pedersen has made it clear that he doesn’t want to lose any more players after seeing his side decimated by injury, but that may well be taken out of his hands if good offers are brought forward.

Yisa Alao is a target for three Premier League giants – Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea – but may be stuck for the time being after picking up an injury. Barry Bannan, meanwhile, is also a target for Millwall as Alex Neil looks to bolster his squad this month.
