The former Manchester City man is out of contract at the end of the season and Owls boss Moore had admitted there was concern that talks could run into January, when by FIFA rules the youngster would be within his rights to speak to clubs outside of England to negotiate a move on pre-contract terms.

Talks over a new deal for Dele-Bashiru have been going on for several months. There had been interest from a number of clubs, with a bid from Blackpool rejected in the summer transfer window.

“I feel like we’re in the latter parts of it,” Moore said when asked for an update on the contract talks.

“Even though you’re at the latter stages of it, you can never say it’s done, signed and sealed, but I do feel we’re at the latter parts and hopefully all parties can come together on it.”

Asked to clarify what he meant by the talks reaching their ‘latter parts’, Moore indicated he was hopeful a deal could be done, but that he won’t allow himself to get carried away with optimism until a contract is signed.

“Like when you bring new players to the club, there’s a process you go through and it’s the same with Fiz,” he told The Star.

“We feel as though we’re probably getting to the latter parts of that now, but you’re never confident until it’s signed because there are so many things that can happen at different times. You’re never completely satisfied to say it’s a done deal.

“When there are so many different parties involved, anything can change in a split second.

“What we are doing is doing our bit at the club to see him extend his stay with us. It’s the right fit for all, we’ve got a platform at the club, with the stage that he’s at, that’s the right one for him, in terms of his development we’ve broken down his game and we’re building it.

“We’ve seen a stronger, more assertive Fiz this season so far and there’s so much more to come for him. He knows the targets I’ve set for him.”
