The Owls have a new look squad following a number of exits over the summer couple with an influx of new players of a younger dynamic, and the SWFC boss has spoken to his plans to keep the transformation going.
Speaking to Alan Biggs on Sheffield Live, Monk explained, “As a manager I have a plan in my head at what the perfect transformation will look like.”

Hide Ad"I've had to adjust that because of what's happened and the restrictions. We're not in the bracket we might have been in before. I have to accept that, and I do, and I respect that… But the demand is I want as many hungry, determined players that have to prove a point that want to play for this club, even in these circumstances.”
He went on to explain how they’ve had to work smartly given the circumstances at present, but admitted that he’d like a few more through the door if possible before the window closes on October 16th.
Monk said, “The ones we've recruited, they are from a certain bracket which we've had to work smartly with.
"They've all got those characteristics to go with the ones I've kept here who I feel have those characteristics. If you put them in the right environment, they will grow and that's what I'm after.

Hide Ad"If I could have another six, seven or eight players that can have that, of course I would say yes, but the reality is that's not going to happen. If it's one or two more, great. If it's none, then it is what it is. I'm determined to set a high standard and want them to deal with what we're asking them to do.”
Next up for Wednesday is a trip to Monk’s former club, Birmingham City, as the Owls look to get back to winning ways following a 2-0 defeat to Bristol City and the 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers last time out.
