What we saw of Di'Shon Bernard injury with other Sheffield Wednesday man confirmed out for next match

Di’Shon Bernard hobbled out of the early stages of Sheffield Wednesday’s clash at Notts County.

Breath will be held on the condition of Sheffield Wednesday favourite Di’Shon Bernard in the coming days after the Jamaica international left the field in some discomfort just 14 minutes into their League One clash at Notts County - while one of his teammates confirmed he will sit out the weekend’s trip to Doncaster Rovers.

Jamaica international Bernard is recently back from a 19-month absence after injuring his knee in February 2025. A stellar performance in a 5-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday served as his latest milestone and he was named to start at Meadow Lane alongside Liam Cooper.

The two defenders launched themselves at a County shot just after 10 minutes, Cooper securing a block. Bernard was seen immediately reaching for his leg - possibly his knee - having got up from the pitch and after a period trying to walk the issue off received a few minutes of medical attention before the decision was made to replace him with Gabriel Otegbayo.

Encouragingly, Bernard was able to leave the pitch of his own accord and did not require any assistance from the physio team, though he did seem to be moving in some discomfort. He shared a word or two with Owls boss Henrik Pedersen and as is routine for players to have picked up any profile of injury, headed straight down the tunnel for further assessment. The severity of any issue is of course at this stage unknown.

A few moments later his Wednesday teammate Callum Slattery launched into a foul and picked up a yellow card that will confirm his absence for the short weekend visit to Doncaster Rovers. The energetic midfielder has now been cautioned five times and will miss that match alone.
