Darren Moore makes Sheffield Wednesday transfer window admission regarding ins and outs

Sheffield Wednesday manager, Darren Moore, admits that he’s hoping that the club doesn’t have a busy transfer window in January.

The window will open on Sunday as 2023 gets underway, with clubs then getting just over four weeks to get their business done before it closes on the 31st at 11pm.

Wednesday are looking at bringing in a few faces over the coming weeks to freshen up their ranks as they look to continue their push for promotion – however their manager says that it shouldn’t be a case of lots of ins or outs after their work since his arrival at the club just under two years ago.

“I hope not,” Moore admitted when asked if there could be a lot of movement in January. “I’d like to think we’re at a level where, after the hard work of the last couple of years, we can have a relatively quiet one. But 24 hours in football is a really long time in football.”

The Owls boss also spoke about whether outside noise in terms of interest from elsewhere could affect his players going into the next window.

Moore said, “Potentially, but it’s part and parcel of the game… Social media is a big component now as well that can affect players.

“Can a club showing outward interest in a player affect them? Possibly. But I can’t really comment too much because my job is focused on my team - they mean a lot to me, to the football club, and they’re under contract.”

Callum Paterson is one player that’s attracted ‘outward interest’ after his former club, Heart of Midlothian, spoke of their desire to bring him back, however Moore has said that there’s been no contact from them at this point in time.

Another player linked with a potential exit is Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as he enters into the last six months of his deal with the club, and there’s been talk of plenty of clubs outside of England keeping tabs on him. He could sign a precontract with any non-English outfit from Sunday if he wished.

In terms of incomings, Wednesday have been mentioned with regards to a handful of Premier League youngsters, and Moore says it may be a market that they look at.
