Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder makes Callum O'Hare admission ahead of Wrexham clash
Chris Wilder has admits Callum O’Hare is a ‘super pro’ ahead of Wrexham clash
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has said that former Blade Callum O’Hare is a ‘really good guy’ but has admitted he sees him as nothing more than opposition on Friday night.
United face Wrexham at Bramall Lane in the Championship, a match that sees O’Hare face his former club just two months after joining the Reds for around £7 million on deadline day.
Although there wasn’t much history between the Reds and Blades, recent meetings have proven to be a fiery affair after the rivalry was sparked when Billy Sharp told them to ‘stick that on their documentary’ after United’s win in the 2023 FA Cup fourth-round replay, which saw the Blades progress after a 3-1 win at Bramall Lane.
Ahead of Friday night, Wilder said: “I enjoyed working with Callum. It was disappointing to lose him.
“You don't want to lose your best players. I think everybody at the club understands that. There's a reason why that happened.
“The timing of it wasn't great, but we had to deal with it and get on with it, which we have done.”
Fans were left frustrated after selling the attacker to a side that was playing in the National League only a few years before - envying their ability to spend.
“Callum's a really good guy. I enjoyed working with him. He's an opposition player on Friday night; he'll understand that. He's a super pro. He gave everything for me, and for the club.
“He decided to go as well, so I think you have to factor that into it.”
O’Hare is understood to have been offered a big pay rise on a four-year deal at the Racecourse Ground.
When asked if he would catch up with O’Hare before the game, he insisted that sort of conversation is strictly for post-match.
“I don't like when people have got a hand over their mouth at the end of the game and laughing and joking when they get beat. I don't want players to enjoy getting beat, but anything that happens afterwards is down to them.”
