Cars could be towed away or stranded under major night time Sheffield road scheme, residents warned
Warning of noise in neighbourhood while work is done at night
Residents could have their cars towed away and face a bill for getting them back under major Sheffield roadwork plans this month.
Streets Ahead, Sheffield Council’s organisation which runs road repairs, has warned it plans to carry out resurfacing works on Batemoor Road this month, affecting nearly a mile of road in the neighbourhood, close to Sheffield’s border with Derbyshire.
And it says any cars that are left parked on the road when they want to work will risk being towed away.

The work will be carried out overnight, and the company admits that this could disturb residents at night with the noise it will cause when the work is carried out during late October..
A letter is being sent by out by Sheffield Council’s Streets Ahead department to local residents and businesses who will be affected by the work.
It warns: “This work is due to take place late October 2026 between 7pm and 5am and will last approximately seven nights, Monday to Friday only. In addition, we may need to return to refresh any road markings.”
“This work has been scheduled to take place at night to minimise disruption in the area. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and any noise you may experience.”
It added: “Please note that we will need to close the road to complete this work and there will be no on-street parking during working hours. Vehicles left on street may be towed away and you would need to pay a fee to have your vehicle released.
“If you are away during the period in which the works are scheduled to take place, please avoid parking your car on the road.”
They have also warned that people could see their cars stranded on their drives by the work, although they will make sure there is still access for pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
They state: “You may leave your vehicle on your drive during our works, but vehicle access will not be allowed, and we apologise to everyone landlocked by our works.”
Temporary road signs will be displayed for at least five days before work starts, confirming the dates and any parking restrictions or road closures.
Streets Ahead are also warning that the schedule could be affected by unforeseen circumstances, such as the weather, and it may be changed at short notice.
