The following is the Met Office’s daily weather forecast in Sheffield over the course of the August bank holiday weekend:

  • Friday, 26 August: sunny intervals to start the day until a change to cloudy skies at 11 pm which will continue throughout the rest of the day - highs of 21℃ expected at around 4 pm
  • Saturday, 27 August: sunny intervals and warming temperatures throughout a majority of the day, changing to cloudy nighttime skies at 10 pm - highs of 21℃ expected at around 4 pm
  • Sunday, 28 August: sunny intervals and warming temperatures throughout a majority of the whole day, changing to clear skies at night from 10 om - highs of 21℃ expected at around 4 pm
  • Monday, 29 August: sunny start to the day changing to overcast weather by 1 pm, sunny intervals to return from 4 pm and clear skies at night - highs of 20℃ at around 4 pm

What is the Met Office long-range weather forecast for the UK?

Weather experts at the Met Office have published a long-term outlook for the entire country, which expects a mix of dry, settled, rainy and windy conditions towards the beginning of September.

The following is the weather organisation’s long-range UK weather forecast from Sunday, 28 August to Tuesday, 6 September 2022:

“Sunday is likely to bring cloudy conditions with outbreaks of rain to northern and western areas, where it may also be breezy and slightly cooler than elsewhere,” it reads.

“Otherwise a mostly fine and dry day although the odd light shower cannot be ruled out, with temperatures around or slightly above average.

“Into next week many areas will retain the settled conditions with fine and dry weather and light winds, although there is still a chance of some rain or showers encroaching into the northwest at times.

“Largely settled weather is likely to continue for the second half of the period, but with the greatest chance of any showers shifting to the east or south. Temperatures generally around or slightly above average, especially in the south.”
