'We are heartbroken': Sheffield dad knifed to death two days before daughter's 10th birthday

A Sheffield man stabbed to death in Sheffield last week was murdered two days before his daughter’s 10th birthday.

Anthony Sumner aged 42, was killed in an attack on Windy House Lane, Manor, just before midnight on Thursday into Friday.

It has been revealed today that his daughter turned 10 just two days after the killing.

Anthony was a dad-of-three.

Michelle Griffiths, the sister of his partner, has set up an online crowdfunding page to help his heartbroken family pay for his unexpected funeral.

She said: “Anthony Sumner was tragically taken by knife crime.

“This happened on late Thursday evening going through to Friday in Sheffield, where he was attacked on Windy House Lane.

“I have started up this page in hope to help raise money for his burial.

“It has left all his family in devastation, they are heartbroken.”

She added: “I have spoken to his mum who explains she would like to give him the best possible send off, as well as my sister, two daughters and son who are left behind.

“It was his daughters 10th Birthday two days later of the tragedy.

“I have never done anything like this before and I hope I won’t have to do it again. I am truly heartbroken for my sister and her family.

A 49-year-old man and 15-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Floral tributes have been left close to the spot where Anthony was killed.

Paramedics battled to revive him but he could not be saved.
