He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Police taped off and guarded the crime scene after the attack and placed a tent at the spot where Mr Sumner’s body was found in a bid to preserve forensic evidence.

The cordon was lifted yesterday and floral tributes now mark the spot.

A 49-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, both from Sheffield, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Palmer, leading the murder probe, said: “We are doing everything we can to establish the sequence of events that led to the tragic death of Anthony.”
