A compound hit by arsonists on Wednesday is used by police to store seized cars - and has now been attacked twice in 15 months.

South Yorkshire Police are investigating the attack, which happened in the early hours of Wednesday, which was the second deliberate fire at the Mansfield Group Rescue Repair Recovery centre on Parkway Drive.

In July 2023, more than 50 vehicles were destroyed in a blaze at Mansfield Group Rescue Repair Recovery centre on Parkway Drive. At least 10 fire engines were called to tackle the 2023 blaze and scores of vehicles were reduced to torched-out shells on that occasion

Police today confirmed that the force had launched an arson investigation into the blaze, and appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

“It is reported that unknown individuals set fire to a Volkswagen Tiguan, which then spread to other vehicles. 13 vehicles were damaged as a result of the incident.
