Ms Lyons said a number of other cars were at the crossing at the time of the incident and she is urging them to contact South Yorkshire Police.

She has shared a photograph of her daughter after the collision, showing the youngster’s injured face.

“There were at least eight other cars all stopped at the red light, surely someone must know someone who saw this accident?” she said.

Call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
