Danny Irons stabbing: More than £1,000 raised in memory of beloved dad-of-three

More than £1,000 has been raised in memory of a dad-of-three stabbed to death in Sheffield to help his family pay for his funeral.

Danny Irons was knifed in an attack on Fretson Green, Manor, in the early hours of Saturday, April 17.

The 32-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and a huge police cordon was put in place as detectives worked to piece together the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Extensive underwater and land searches were carried out last week around the canal off Tinsley Park Road, close to Sheffield Arena.

Two men – Daniel Chadwick, 29, of Melville Drive, Manor and Ross Turton, 29, of Danewood Avenue, Manor – have both been charged with murder and are remanded in custody.

Two other men, aged 24 and 28, also arrested as part of the murder probe were released under investigation after questioning.

Danny’s cousin, Stacey Irons, who set up an online fundraising appeal to help his family, said his death was ‘tragic and unimaginable’.

She said: “Myself and his family are in so much shock and going through the worst heartache and pain we couldn't have ever imagined.

“I am asking very kindly from the bottom of my heart for any amount of donation to help his loving mum and family give him the best send off possible.

“Any amount we are truly grateful for and respect each and everyone of you for taking the time out to do this. I hope to raise as much as possible for a kind, beloved father, son, brother, uncle and cousin at this very sad time.”
