CCTV footage reviewed as cops hunt rapist after sex attack in Sheffield city centre

Police officers involved in the hunt for a rapist who attacked a woman on a night out in Sheffield are continuing to review CCTV footage from cameras in the city centre.

A 23-year-old woman was raped on West Street in the early hours of Thursday, June 17.

South Yorkshire Police said the woman had been on a night out with friends and was raped close to the Walkabout bar on the corner of West Street and Carver Street at around 1.30pm.

The rapist was white, around 5ft 6ins tall and had short, black, spiky hair.

He was wearing a black tracksuit.

Detective Constable Susannah Taylor, investigating, said: “I’d like to offer you my reassurance that we have dedicated officers working to identify the individual involved and establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”
