Dave's Hot Chicken: Signs go up as American fast food chain set to replace Sheffield city centre's Ask Italian
A popular city centre restaurant is set to be replaced by a fast food chain.
Last month it was announced that Ask Italian on Cambridge Street - just by Barker’s Pool and City Hall - had closed its doors for good.
The popular city centre spot was quickly emptied out, with owners announcing that it would be replaced by an American fast food chain.

Founded in LA in 2017, Dave’s Hot Chicken has since rocketed in popularity, beginning an expansion into the UK in 2024.
The company has branches in Manchester, Birmingham, Stevenage and London, with this new city centre restaurant set to continue their growth.
Signs have now been placed across the empty Ask Italian restaurant, promising the ‘hottest chicken around’.
The signage suggests the new branch will open in February 2026.
Job applications for team members at the new site have already gone up, with part-time and full-time positions available.
Adverts for the job state that the starting salary will be £12.50 per hour, however it is expected that this will change as the minimum wage for those aged 21 and over rises to £12.71 in April.
Dave’s Hot Chicken has 2.2 million followers on Instagram, and boasted links to the Canadian rapper Drake - who has been among its owners - with other famous investors in the company reported to have included the Star Wars and Pulp Fiction film star Samuel L Jackson.
