Sheffield retro: 18 nostalgic photos taking you back to 1995, including old buses, lost pubs and restaurants

It was the height of Britpop, as the nation sweltered during the driest summer in UK history.

These nostalgic photos show life in Sheffield back in 1995, from shoppers at a bustling Castle Market to the Bendibuses which snaked their way round the city 28 years ago. This retro photo gallery also includes images of lost pubs and restaurants, including the old Henry’s cafe bar on Cambridge Street, and some of the shops which have vanished, like C&A on High Street.

How many of these old sights do you remember, and what do you think about how the city has changed? All the photos are shared courtesy of Picture Sheffield.
