Sheffield care home residents step out for Macmillan Cancer Support
Residents, staff and family at Sheffield’s Springwood care home are putting their best feet forward with an exercise programme that combines fitness with charity fundraising.

Throughout September, the Shirecliffe home - one of the nine operated by charity Sheffcare - has been encouraging everybody who can to take part in a brisk sponsored walk.
The circuit takes them from the Herries Road home and round the block, with the aim being to complete a hundred laps before the end of the month, either walking independently or with support.
And with sponsorship forms available for everybody taking part, the aim is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Our residents are really enthusiastic and are asking every day to get involved and if its their turn to go out on the walk,” said Springwood manager Diane Whitehead, who is herself taking part in the challenge.
“Everyone is getting involved - even family members - and are keen to get the laps in.
“To add to the fundraising total, on Friday, September 25 from 10.30 to noon, we are also holding a coffee morning with coffee and cakes, a raffle, games and donation tables snd everybody is welcome to join us.”
