Mackenzie Ball, 20, died following a two-vehicle collision on Morthen Road, at the junction of Moat Lane, Wickersley, on June 2, 2024.

In April 2026, Owen Cocksedge, 19, pleaded guilty to his manslaughterafter he “rammed” Mackenzie off the road during a chase following an altercation between two groups. He potentially faces sentencing on June 8.

Now, Mackenzie’s friends and family are planning ‘Mackfest’ to raise money for charity in his memory.

The ’everyone welcome’ fun day will take place at Silverwood Miners Welfare, Doncaster Road, Dalton, from 12noon on June 7.

Highlights will include a 90-minute 11-a-side charity football game.

A post on the ‘Mackfest’ Facebook page reads: “Everyone is welcome this June 7.

“We have stalls, raffles, music, dancers, football, bouncy castle and food.

“It is CASH only, there is a bank machine across the road at the shop. The bar will be open as well. There will be no chairs, so if you are wanting to bring some, then please do then you have somewhere to sit.

“Hope to see lots of love and support, let’s make it a day to remember and do our MAC proud.”

Three other young men from Sheffield - Kowen Pitts, 22, of Jaunty Avenue, Gleadless Townend; Adam Platts, 20, of Newbould Crescent, Beighton; and Deacon Blake, 18, of Jaunty Avenue, Gleadless Townend - are all charged with manslaughter and are yet to enter pleas.

They will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on June 8.
