Following his critically-acclaimed 2017 modern-day production of Julius Caesar that proved an exciting start to his time in charge at the Crucible and Lyceum, Sheffield Theatres artistic director Robert Hastie again directs the drama.

His other hit shows at the Crucible as director include 2019 musicals Guys and Dolls and Standing at the Sky’s Edge, featuring the music of Sheffield rock star Richard Hawley.

Tom Bateman, who takes the title role, starred as Italian nobleman Giuliano de Medici in historical fantasy TV series Da Vinci’s Demons, a fictional story about the Medieval painter Leonardo Da Vinci.

He is widely believed to be engaged to Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, which will inevitably lead fans of the long-running sci-fi series to wonder if Daisy, who stars as Jedi Rey, will be in the Crucible audience.
