The takeover follows the success of a similar event at The Rat and Pigeon in Manchester in August, which attracted large crowds of fans.

The Manchester pub was transformed into a celebration of the band, with limited-edition merchandise, rare memorabilia, photographs and posters from their career.

The jukebox was also specially programmed by frontman Jarvis Cocker, while fans had the chance to see material from the band's archive.

The Rat and Pigeon has already warned its Sheffield counterpart to expect a busy day, writing on social media: “Note to Hallamshire Hotel - you will be 10 times busier than you expect, enjoy!”

Fans have been quick to share their excitement about the Sheffield event.

Kate Strafford said: “Well this looks like fun”.

Another fan, Andrew, wrote: “Absolutely love these pop up pubs. And what a place to have it. Pulp can actually make it to this one.”

Pulp were formed in Sheffield in 1978, when Cocker was just 15 and began the band with schoolfriend Peter Dalton, who was 14.

The group went on to become one of the city's most successful musical exports, known for songs including Common People and Disco 2000.

The band returned to Sheffield in 2025 when they performed at Tramlines Festival.

More information about the Hallamshire Hotel takeover is expected to be announced in the coming days.
