Lucy Spraggan set for Tramlines after Doncaster Festival set reflects an artist living her best life

Lucy wowed fans at Doncaster Festival over the weekend

Looking at Lucy, you could see how happy she was performing in front of the Donny Festival Audience.

The 34-year-old one-time X Factor contestant beamed throughout her set, pointing and interacting with the audience to bring them into the performance.

For her diminutive size she’s definitely a powerful performer, but what I enjoyed the most was the joy emanating from Miss Spraggan.

Despite her success, she has endured plenty of dark times in her life, which have been well documented over the years. She told me: “I’ve been a dark place for most of adult life, but not anymore!

“I’m seven years sober next month, I’ve come to learn after being in this industry so long - that if you want an audience to be happy and full of energy, you’ve to be that as well.

“If you’re trying to do it from a place that is not authentic, it doesn’t work.”

The singer-songwriter is currently working on her soon to be released ninth album, as well as a collaboration with The Reytons on the single ‘Busker's Paradise.’

Lucy says she got to a place in life in her life where she believes enjoying what she does is paramount.

Since Lucy stopped drinking seven years ago, she turned to sports fitness to help her physically, and mentally

She said: “I do mixed martial arts I’m a blue belt in Jujutsu, orange belt in K1 martial arts, and I compete in Jujutsu.

“I just love the way fitness makes me feel. I never had it before, I had drinking, so when I stopped drinking, I had a new start in life. I run, lift weights - I’ll do anything.”

Lucy is currently on a UK tour and will be at Sheffield’s Tramlines Festival on T’Other Stage on Saturday, July 25.
