The Owls made a late Play-Off push as Carlos Carvalhal’s dream almost came true, and after a dramatic win in the semifinals against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Owls were unable to make it past Steve Bruce’s Hull City after Mo Diamé had struck the killer blow in a game that ended 1-0 and saw Hull go up.

The best part of the day for me was after the game. We found a bench near the ground and all met up. We shared some beers and savoured the moment. The result seemed to disappear and it was all about spending time with friends reflecting on how far we’d come. That’s my standout memory. Photo: Victoria Wood

We weren’t ‘on our way’ in the end, but the week is full of abiding memories. Flying in with scores of Wednesdayites from JFK. Taking my dad to Wembley 20 years after he took me four times in ‘93. Singing into the night in Covent Garden, on the Tube, up escalators. It was the best of us, even if the game wasn’t. Photo: James Allen
