The Owls made a late Play-Off push as Carlos Carvalhal’s dream almost came true, and after a dramatic win in the semifinals against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Owls were unable to make it past Steve Bruce’s Hull City after Mo Diamé had struck the killer blow in a game that ended 1-0 and saw Hull go up.

The nerves and anticipation were there from the moment my alarm went off and I headed down to London… I remember the roads from Sheffield to London packed with Wednesday fans with their scarves and flags in the car windows. The buzz in the park outside Wembley as fans crammed in. I'll forever be gutted that we abandoned the style of play that had worked so well for us that season but looking back on the season as a whole, it was the best and most entertaining football I can recall watching at Hillsborough in my lifetime. We might not have gone up that day, but that was a Premier League turnout from the fans. | Other 3rd Party Photo: Louis Muhsin

Around 10 of us met at 11am, and three hours later, that group had swelled to around 25... Many of us went back to the same pub, and we are still mates to this day. That’s my overwhelming memory. Wednesday let us down, but a brilliant day. | Getty Images Photo: Andy McElwaine

Wembley 2016 summed up being a Wednesdayite in a nutshell... I travelled with family and friends, I was proud to be part of the absolutely magnificent support, singing non-stop. We came away with bittersweet memories though, not the victory we really should have had. | Other 3rd Party Photo: Christine Haslam

Getting off the tube at Wembley was just something else, blue and white everywhere. Happy faces, the young North Yorks Owls' kids faces lit up seeing the Wembley Arch. Fans just taking pictures, smiling, drinking, soaking it all in... This moment included the penultimate photo opportunity that the NYO Flag would make due to it disappearing in Berlin several months later! We were sat quite high up, and after the second half started Wednesday were singing “On our way” for ages. At one point I could actually feel the stadium moving with the fans bouncing! | Other 3rd Party Photo: Simon Hodgkinson
