And fans were also given the news that one of the Tigers’ stars of this season, Tobiasz Musielak, is returning to the club again next season.

Track staff at Owlerton worked hard to get the track in a state where racing could take place after recent rain, and the meeting started an hour later than initially scheduled, with Sam Masters guesting for Jack Holder, and James Wright for Justin Sedgmen, who were both unavailable.

They led by eight points by the end of heat three, and had done enough to secure the overall victory by the end of heat 10, at which point they were 37-23 ahead on the night.

The meeting ended a heat early, with rain starting to fall again, and the referee calling a halt to proceedings with Tigers by then leading 50-34.

Team manager Simon Stead described it as a great team performance.

He said: “It just goes to show what a great bunch of lads we are. I think we thoroughly deserved to get some silverware. We were desperately disappointed not to get the league over the line but we went about our business. We went to King's Lynn and really got stuck in and showed what worthy champions we are and full credit to all the boys tonight, even the Kings Lynn lads. We had some tough battles."
