The former West Bromwich Albion manager was today appointed as the new Owls manager ahead of a crunch end to the season at Hillsborough, so we took a look at what might be his best XI if everybody was fit and available.
Obviously there are injuries currently and plenty of contracts/loans expiring at the end of the season, but based on the squad alone – and if they’re injury free – they do have the players to play his fluid 4-2-3-1 formation.
He’s also used 4-4-2, 3-5-2 and 3-5-2 up to now, but if we were to go for his preferred fluid 4-2-3-1 with ball-playing midfielders, here’s how he could line up based on what’s available to him going forward.
1. GK - Keiren Westwood
Moore may well be looking for some experience in terms of his man between the sticks, and Westwood has got plenty of that. Has looked strong since being brought back in from the cold at Hillsborough. Photo: Steve Ellis
2. RB - Moses Odubajo
Odubajo is currently on the sidelines with an injury, but is expected back at some point this month. Offers plenty going forward from wide, but Osaze Urhoghide could also be a good option here if you want a player who's a bit more on the defensive side. Photo: NurPhoto
3. CB - Dominic Iorfa
Granted, he's out for the season and will play no part in helping Wednesday stay up, but he's undoubtedly one of the best players at the club when fit and you'd expect him to be starting in the heart of the Owls defence under Moore. Photo: Steve Ellis
4. CB - Tom Lees
A no-nonsense defender that's arguably been the Owls' best player so far this season with a number of steady performances in defence. His contract is up at the end of the season, but you'd expect to at least feature in the upcoming relegation battle. Photo: Steve Ellis
