When Sheffield Wednesday's international players are next due to be in action
Club football has made way for international action
Three Sheffield Wednesday players will be on international duty on Friday, while another could be involved on Saturday.
When The Owls step out against Huddersfield Town on October 10 it will have been three weeks since their last league game, although two EFL Trophy ties against Salford City and Sunderland under-21s will have taken place in-between.
The extended break has allowed those not called-up to rest up, those carrying injuries to get closer to fitness and for the squad to string some ‘intense’ training sessions together - something Henrik Pedersen says has not been able to happen since the summer because of the busy start to the season.
On Friday morning Will Grainger could feature for Wales’ under-19s in a friendly against Norway, kick-off at 11am. Harry Gray is then next up this afternoon at 3pm as England under-19s play USA in a friendly. Later tonight, Kieran Morrison will be with Northern Ireland for their Nations League clash against Ukraine. And on Saturday, Yan Valery’s Tunisia play Mali in a friendly on Monday.
Sean Fusire has played two 45-minute for Zimbabwe in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying but they do not have any more matches in this period. Ali Al-Hamadi was called-up by Iraq but withdrew with an ankle injury. However, the on-loan Ipswich Town forward has been pictured at Middlewood Road this week.
