Garry Monk left with his whole technical team last week, and Tony Pulis will need to bolster the first team staff in order to take them forward.

Monk departed the Owls last week with all of the technical staff that he brought into the club since his tenure at Hillsborough began, although the likes of Tony Strudwick and Neil Thompson did remain as part of the team, with ‘Thommo’ taking training sessions prior to Pulis' arrival today.

There have been some indications that the Owls’ new boss would be bringing in David Kemp, with whom he's worked on numerous occasions, as assistant coach, while Jonathan Gould has been his goalkeeper coach on more than one occasion.

However, when asked about the situation surrounding that today he wouldn’t be drawn on naming any names about who he’d like to bring in, telling the media, “I’m trying to do that over the next few days… Obviously it was important for me to get myself up here and have a look around and get myself settled.

I want to get a place here as quickly as possible. I need a bas where I can go and watch stuff and do stuff, and that’s obviously close to the training ground.

“Once I’m bedded down, I’ll look at bringing in people who can help me out. Help me and help the players prepare for games and prepare to win football matches at this level.”

He added, “I will bring in staff, that is important for me. I've always wanted experienced people around me. It's important to have people around who will challenge you. Coaching is a cross-section of opinion, it's important to have people question what you are doing.

It remains to be seen at this point whether Pulis will be able to bring anybody in to join his technical team – or who it might be consisted of - ahead of this weekend’s trip to Preston North End, however he did seem to confirm that Thompson will be playing some sort of role at the club given his links with the academy over the years.
