The Swans, who were due to play the Owls on Saturday, are flying since the turn of the year – winning four of their five league games – and are currently on an eight game unbeaten streak in the Championship – form that led to Steve Cooper being named as the division’s Manager of the Month today.

“Obviously it was a disappointing result,” he told the club’s website. “But we can take a lot of positives from it, especially in the resilience we showed and how boys kept running and kept working hard… That's the mentality of every single game; not just because of this game, but because of what we want to achieve this season.

“The boys want to improve as players, as individuals and as a team as well. That's the mentality we have as a group; we want to get better, improve each game and hopefully, we can keep taking that into each game.”

And though that next game is now likely to be Nottingham Forest next week rather than the Owls tomorrow, the 20-year-old defender did say that they’re prepared for whatever the Owls have to throw at them – whenever that might be.

He went on to say, “We know we’re going to have to be ready again this weekend. We must pick ourselves up and make sure we're ready for a tough game against Sheffield Wednesday.

“We know how they play and how difficult they make the game, but if we come with the right mentality and are in the right state of mind then I think it will be a good game for us.”

Wednesday have only beaten Swansea once since 1984 (that win came in 2019), and their hectic schedule means that there isn’t much time to squeeze in the game that would give them the chance to change that.
