Sheffield Wednesday's on-loan Crystal Palace wing-back Tayo Adaramola gets international recognition
Owls man is rewarded for improved performances
Tayo Adaramola has received his first senior call-up for the Republic of Ireland.
The 22-year-old has been on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Crystal Palace during the second-half of the season after spending the first part of the campaign at Leyton Orient.
The speedy left-sider made 16 appearances for Wednesday, including 15 starts, and his performances have caught the eye of Republic of Ireland manager, Heimir Hallgrímsson, who has included him in his 21-man squad for a training camp in Spain and friendly against Grenada in Murcia on Saturday, May 16.
Adaramola played 90 minutes in Wednesday’s last six matches, including in their first home win of the season on the final day against West Brom on Saturday. With the wideman having only on loan, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him. But it certainly seems like he enjoyed his time at Hillsborough, posting on social media that he will be ‘forever grateful’ and that it is a ‘one in a million type of club.’
Owls boss Henrik Pedersen spoke recently about an improvement in Adaramola’s displays, saying: “He's a strong character, I really like him. His development has been massive. He starts to understand when we're speaking about what are we doing, why are we doing it and how are we doing this?’ His general understanding of the game has increased a lot. He has many more good defensive situations now than in the beginning, and it's telling me that he's really, really moving in the right direction.”
Adaramola will be joined in the squad by Sheffield United’s Tom Cannon, Mark McGuinness and Chiedozie Ogbene.
