Sheffield Wednesday talisman Barry Bannan on new coaches and 'top, top signings'

The Scot, about to embark on his sixth season at the club, spoke to the club’s official website and described a refreshed mood in camp, praising the Owls’ new-look coaching staff for the impact they’ve made in a short period of time with the players.
Coaching trio James Beattie, Andrew Hughes and Darryl Flahavan are leading a five-day training camp alongside manager Garry Monk, Neil Thompson and fitness guru Tony Strudwick.

Hide AdBannan said: “These little training camps, from past experience, are really good for team bonding and stuff like that, it's good to get away from the training ground, it's something different.
“The boys have worked really hard today, the coaches have done well and the session was brilliant.
“Hopefully the running is dying down a bit now, we've done enough of that last week! But that's what pre-season is all about, the running and stuff, that brings you together as well. When you're working hard, everybody is egging each other on to get that extra. It's all good for team spirit.”
Asked about the new coaches, he said: “It's good. They've got different ideas and they're different to the coaches before. The coaches before were really good as well but sometimes it's good to have a change, the gaffer's been wanting to bring his own people in and we've enjoyed working with them.

Hide Ad“It's only been a week but they've got new styles and new ways of working and it's about us buying into the way that they and the manager wants us to go and going with it.”
The coaching team isn’t the only one to have been freshened up. New signings Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Chey Dunkley and Izzy Brown have made an impression on Bannan, who described them as ‘top, top signings’, with more expected in the coming weeks.
The Scot said: “That's good for the club, a good bit of business all three of them and it keeps players here that have been here for a few years on their toes as soon as new people come into the building, it automatically makes everybody work harder.
“It's good for the team that we've got players coming in and fighting for positions, hopefully we can get a few more in before the season starts.

Hide Ad“They're top, top signings from working with them the last week or so, I'm happy with what I've seen and I'm sure all the boys can't wait to get going as well.
“It's a new season and everybody is looking forward to it. I'm like a kid in a sweetshop again, as soon as you see that first fixture it gives you that buzz again and that means it's really, really close.
“We've got a tough week here and we've got Leicester at the end of the week, so we want to be getting into games and showing what we can do.”
