The Owls skipper has been in fine form of late, and his fan-voted award comes as no major surprise after he notched up three goals and two assists in six games during the month in question.

Wednesday revealed on Friday morning that Bannan had been decided as the latest winner of the monthly award, with 34% of the fans’ vote – closely followed by Marvin Johnson, Jack Hunt, George Byers and Saido Berahino.

Over on Instagram, Chey Dunkley and Bailey Peacock-Farrell replied to the announcement by posting some clapping emojis, whilst Dominic Iorfa reacted by posting the goat emoji underneath the post.

While it’s his first Player of the Month award this season, it’s not the first time that the Wednesday captain has been acknowledged during the current campaign, with the 32-year-old being named in numerous Teams of the Week and several opposition managers, players and pundits pointing out his importance to Darren Moore’s side.

Bannan’s March award also comes less than a week after he played his 300th game in Owls colours during the 4-1 win over Cheltenham Town, and he’ll be hoping to play every other game between now and the last match of the season as Moore’s side go in search of a Play-Off place come the end of next month.

Wednesday face AFC Wimbledon at 3pm tomorrow as they look to consolidate their place in the League One top six for a little bit longer.
